We are looking for a Graphic Designer

THE JOB

This is an excellent opportunity for a graphic designer looking for their first or second position. Applicants must either have a graphic design qualification (BTEC, HND, Degree, NVQ3 or above etc) or have previous experience in a similar position.

Candidates should be familiar with the following software packages: CS3/CS4, QuarkXPress, Freehand (not essential), Illustrator, Photoshop, with experience of print production and sending files to print.

There is a Personal Development program for the right candidate to further themselves in the company.

Hours are 9:00 – 5:30 Monday to Friday to start immediately.

Initial 4 week period will be working from our Glossop office. Thereafter the role be working between Glossop and Buxton

THE ROLE

The role of our graphic designers is to ‘wow’ clients with innovative design that really works for their business.

You will be responsible for creating high quality and innovative designs for a wide range of clients. The work typically includes logos, stationery, promotional materia and exhibition graphics. You will have to work within budget restraints, be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to deliver an extremely high standard of both design and accuracy.

Whilst the primary activity is graphic design for print, this role provides a fantastic opportunity for someone ambitious and hungry to develop their career and learn additional commercial and marketing skills within a small but growing company.

Typical activities include (but are not limited to):

-Taking client briefs

-Advising clients on how to make design work for their business

- Creating designs for print and web

- Liaising with clients throughout the lifecycle of their job, from the initial enquiry to the delivery of the finished product

- Ensuring files are technically correct before sending them to print

- Creating and developing business relationships with new and potential clients.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally you will have a minimum of 18 months working in a studio environment. If not you will have a varied portfolio that will show us you have the creativity and ability to do the job. You must be willing and able to learn new skills.

You will have a ‘can do’ attitude with loads of energy and want to succeed. You will need excellent organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines and manage your own workload.

You will be a stickler for detail (because we are) able to work under direction as well as unsupervised. You must be good at dealing with people as our clients are our lifeblood and we believe they deserve the best.
